Selective School Entrance
Exams at these 7+, 11+ and 13+ stages. The lessons are delivered specific for the
age
group and we are aware of the requirements which the child needs to be met for each
Independent Selective School Entrance Exams.
Selective Independent Schools aound the country concentrate on all or some of the
areas as of Grammar
Schools or may have additional requirements. We help the child to prepare as per the
requirements of the school they have chosen to apply.
Children preparing for
Selective Independent schools may benefit from the GELCTA 11 Plus Programmes from
Year
3 onwards however it is essential that parents discuss their intentions for the
child so that we can provide the best possible combination of programmes to suit the
child. It may be that the best option for the child is to receive private one to one
tuition in the subject areas tested. In addition parents need to be aware that
certain Selective Independent Schools focus on “the whole child”, rather than just
being highly academic which need to be identified before applying.
Our (13 weeks - 3 year) courses are designed to
help the
students
prepared well for their targeted Independent Schools. Our core
focus in GLECTA is to help the students
getting
deeper
understanding
in the core subjects like Maths, VR, NVR & English (Comprehension, Grammar, Story &
Creative Writing).
Students studying in our Courses will cover the entire 7+, 11+ & 13+ syllabus
for these key stages in
our
power-packed classes, and will also undertake extensive examination
preparation via
mock tests and weekly/monthly tests.
The students will undertake independent study sessions (contents lecture & doubt
session for
each topic)
each week to ensure
that they are carrying out sufficient independent learning in accordance with their
academic
targets and work set.
Teachers will cover entire course in your chosen subjects & conduct weekly, mid term
& final mock exams of
all the
enrolled subject/s.
We will be sharing the detailed analysis results of each student to their parents as
well so
that they can track the development of their kids towards ultimate goal of good
grades in 11+

All of our 7+, 11+ and 13+ courses follows the different patterns set out by the
Independent Schools.
Each subject has different curriculum & modules (/Units).
Most exam papers from Independent Schools contain mental mathematics and could be tested in both a verbal and written form. There will also be longer word problems that require two or three-step solutions as well as mathematical puzzles and more abstract questions that require deeper understanding. The key is doing a small amount of practice consistently and regularly.
Most of the Independent schools assess the kids based on their English (Comprehension, Grammar, Story / Creative Writing) knowledge and their main focus is to assess each and every children based on Comprehension Grammar and Story-Writing skills. For comprehension, responses must be provided in full sentences unless otherwise stated. The key to doing well in these exams is to have a solid technique, wide-ranging vocabulary and practice. Some schools also test spelling, grammar, memory and dictation. For example, the children may be asked to correct a sentence or there may be a spelling test. Some exam may contain written test in English, Collaborative Activities and a Reading test.
Some of the Independent schools test Reasoning and so and it is worth checking
whether it will be
examined by the schools you are interested in. Both Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning
could be included in the exam.
What happens during interviews and assessment days? Interviews are generally rather
informal and relaxed. Your child will likely be asked about their hobbies, sport,
holidays and interests and their responses and input will likely guide the
conversation.
